Director Tommy Wirkola Says 'Violent Night 2' Is Officially in the Works

But Production Has Been Delayed Due to Labor Issues

Fans of the action-comedy Violent Night, starring David Harbour as a brutal Santa Claus, will have to wait a little longer for the sequel. Director Tommy Wirkola has confirmed that Violent Night 2 is officially in development, but production has been delayed due to labor issues.

Wirkola revealed the news in an interview with Collider, saying, "We're still working on the script and we're still in the early stages of development, but we're very excited about it. We've got a great story and we've got a great cast, so we're just waiting for the right time to start shooting."

The original Violent Night was a surprise hit when it was released in December 2022, grossing over $120 million worldwide. The film's success spawned a sequel, which was originally scheduled to start production in early 2023.

However, Wirkola said that the production start date has been pushed back due to labor issues in the film industry. "There's a lot of labor issues going on right now in the film industry," he said. "So, that's kind of delayed things a little bit."

Wirkola did not provide a new start date for production, but he said that he is "confident" that Violent Night 2 will start filming "soon." He also teased that the sequel will be "even more action-packed and fun" than the original.

Fans of Violent Night will be eager to see what Wirkola and Harbour have in store for them in the sequel. With its action-packed premise and star-studded cast, Violent Night 2 is sure to be another holiday hit when it eventually arrives.
