Move Comes After Ankara Test Russian Missile System

US imposes sanction on Turkey

Move comes after Ankara test Russian missile system

The US has imposed sanctions on Turkey after it tested the Russian S-400 missile system. The move comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries over Turkey's purchase of the Russian weapon system.

The US has long opposed Turkey's purchase of the S-400 missile system, saying it is not compatible with NATO systems and could compromise the security of the alliance. Turkey, however, has maintained that it needs the system to defend itself against threats from Russia and other countries.

The sanctions imposed by the US target Turkey's defense industry, including its procurement office and several companies involved in the development and production of the S-400 missile system. The sanctions will also restrict Turkey's access to US military equipment and technology.

The US has said that the sanctions will remain in place until Turkey removes the S-400 missile system from its territory. Turkey has said that it will not remove the system and has threatened to retaliate against the US sanctions.

The sanctions are a further blow to US-Turkey relations, which have been strained in recent years over a number of issues, including Turkey's crackdown on dissent, its military incursions into Syria, and its support for the Muslim Brotherhood.
